Introducing COLLIDERS, a set of sixty creative Collision presets from Flintpope. Ableton’s Collision is a scientifically designed sound-modeling instrument co-authored with AAS. It is capable of creating realistic tuned percussion, drums, cymbals, metallic hits, pipes and strings.
But why stop there? Flintpope decided to experiment with the noise generator and long releases on the seven resonators (beam, marimba, string, membrane, plate, pipe, and tube) to get some ambient and evolving sounds that can shake a serious stick at Ableton’s Analog and Operator synthesizers. These sounds are interestingly grainy and LOFI, creating spaces that vary between wide open and tightly focused in turn.

He then slammed these presets head to head with Sampler, Analog, Simpler, Electric, Operator, Max for Live and Tension, using presets he’d already made to ensure originality in the end product COLLIDERS. The results created the most vibrant, heavy, light, mournful, uplifting, jazzy, metal, ambient, in-your-face sounds he didn’t know these instruments could make.
You won’t believe these sounds either. Each preset comes with an Ableton rack enclosing Collision and a variety of FX including Reverb, Auto Filter, Delay, Grain Delay, Glue, EQ8, and Limiter. Each rack has four macro controls, two linked to relative volumes of Collision plus the second instrument (e.g. Operator). Two other dials are linked variously to FX and/or envelope, sample and hold or whatever is relevant to the particular preset involved.
