Forehand & Wadsworth Serial Numbers - The Firing Line Forums

Forehand & Wadsworth. Shop for hard to find Revolvers from Forehand & Wadsworth. Founded in 1871, Forehand & Wadsworth has produced parts that Numrich Gun Parts finds and delivers to you at great values! Sullivan Forehand and Henry Wadsworth were sons in law and employees of Ethan Allen. Upon Allens death in 1871, the took over the Company as Forehand & Wadsworth. In 1890 Wadsworth retired and it became Forehand Arms Co. They made both Single and Double shotguns, the quality being about that of Stevens, along with a few Higher grade models. And there is a problem with the serial number. Forehand serial numbers for their NEW MODEL HAMMER DOUBLE run from serial number 001 in 1892 to 11,001+ in 1902. The serial numbers for their NEW MODEL HAMMERLESS DOUBLE run from serial number 001in 1890 to 3,301+ in 1902. Much too low to include your gun. Forehand & Wadsworth Double Action No. 38 Worchester, Mass. The left side of the barrel is marked PATD June 27'71-Oct 28'73 In generally the serial number is marked at the rear face of the cylinder, at the bottom of the grip frame and can also be figured at the bottom of the barrel. It's a Forehand and Wadsworth top break 32 S&W revolver 6 shot. Haven't shot it but I had it out last year to look at for the first time since I acquired it. I was organizing my safe the other day and decided to take it out for the first time since last year to clean it thoroughly along with the other guns she had given to me.
